What is Acupressure

Acupressure came from the Latin word "Acus" which means needles + pressure. You might heard of Acupuncture. Acupuncture and Acupressure use the same pressure points. Although the pressure points are the same but instead of needles Acupressure uses pressure of hands specially thumbs, elbow and other different devices.

Acupressure is a part of "Reflexology". (Reflexology, also known as zone therapy, is an alternative medicine involving application of pressure to the feet and hands with specific thumb, finger, and hand techniques without the use of oil or lotion. Wikipedia)


How Acupressure Works

  • Human body works in an accurate mechanism like a perfect machine. It maintains in natural way of eating, work and rest. Acupressure helps to adjust and cure imbalance in this process. 
  • Life energy flows through meridians in our body. Blockages in these meridians causes disease. With pressure on some points in body Acupressure opens the blockage and cures us naturally.
  • Every machine has a on button, we can start them pressing the button when needed. Acupressure points are like buttons. We have 900 Acupressure points in our body. And there are 38 Acupressure points in our hands. Acupressure recharges the body glands and makes body healthier. 
  • Acupressure increases blood circulation through the body and heal the affected organs.
  • Trauma or Fight or Flight response tighten muscles and causes ailment in the body. Acupressure releases the muscular tension with pressure on certain points and relaxes the body and mind.

History of Acupressure

  • Acupressure was invented 5000 years ago in Indian Continent. 
  • The Sushruta Samhita described 107 acupressure points in human body on 4th century (Sushruta, or Suśruta was an ancient Indian physician, known as the main author of the treatise The Compendium of Suśruta. Wikipedia). 
  • Red Indians also applied Acupressure in 16th century.
  • Dr. William H. FitzGerald researched and brought Acupressure in the light of 20th century .

Uses of Acupressure

  • Acupressure is being used for beauty by the Chinese for a long time. It detoxify the skin and improves skin tone and makes you beautiful.
  • It enhances sexual ability to a great level increasing sex endurance.
  • Releases muscular tension and relieves muscle pain, back pain, Arthritis, Insomnia, Fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue and headaches and more.
  • Acupressure boosts immune system.
  • Relaxes muscle and mind. 
  • Releases stress and mental pain. Creates happiness and peace in mind.
  • Acupressure alleviate psychosomatic diseases.
